RMIT Online and Melba
CASE STUDY: DRIVING INCLUSION THROUGH EDUCATION WITH MELBA & RMIT ONLINE
SITUATION
Melba Support Services, in partnership with RMIT Online, wanted to create a course that went beyond checklists and policies. Their goal was to educate, inspire, and activate Australian workplaces around the critical importance of inclusion, accessibility, and anti-discrimination. With decades of anti-discrimination legislation on the books but limited cultural impact, Melba recognised a unique opportunity to challenge assumptions, share real stories, and advocate for a future where everyone feels valued at work.
TASK
77 Productions was brought on to develop a flagship educational video for the launch of the course, Foundations of Inclusive and Accessible Workplaces. The video had to:
-
Introduce the course in a compelling and credible way
-
Humanise key legal frameworks through real-world examples and expert insights
-
Feature authentic voices from Melba’s leadership and inclusion consultants
-
Convey both urgency and optimism, while being accessible and engaging for a broad national audience
ACTION
We worked closely with Melba’s executive team and RMIT Online to shape a narrative that balanced legislative education with personal testimony. The video featured:
-
On-camera appearances by Melba’s CEO and Inclusion Consultants
-
Real-world case studies, such as landmark discrimination rulings, used to underscore systemic challenges
-
Accessible, down-to-earth scripting that welcomed learners of all backgrounds
-
A warm, human visual style that matched the spirit of the course: empowering, inclusive, and grounded in lived experience
The tone was clear and conversational—designed to resonate with everyday Australians in the workforce, from HR teams to frontline managers.
RESULT
The video became the core storytelling asset of the course, anchoring its purpose and credibility. It helped frame the importance of inclusion not just as a legal obligation, but as a cultural opportunity for businesses, individuals, and society at large. Learner engagement was high, and the course continues to serve as an important step in fostering accessible, equitable workplaces across the country.
