Christmas At Federation Square

Federation Square is home to major cultural attractions, world-class events, tourism experiences and an exceptional array of venues. Federation Square is incredibly hard to imagine Melbourne without and has recently been named the 6th Best Public Square in the World.

Federation Square was about to build the largest LEGO Christmas tree in the Southern Hemisphere, made up of more than 200,000 LEGO bricks and nearly 3500 LEDs.

The marketing team at Federation Square wanted to capture this monumental moment calling it “a frozen moment in time” which was the idea based on an animation that they wanted us to produce.

We got to work developing the concept and came up with the idea of having LEGO characters building a LEGO tree. Federation Square wanted to create hype leading up to the event so we decided to create this using high-end 3D software, modelling, and rendering inside of Cinema 4D.

Creating this animation using Cinema 4D unlocked a world of potential. Incorporating an array of detailed LEGO characters, we brought this theme to life.

We also gave this project a touch of realism by tracking in live shots of Federation Square for the background.
